BROWNSVILLE, TX. – James Sidney Board, born on April 21, 1979, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the age of 39.
James was a dedicated zookeeper of 11 years at the Gladys Porter Zoo, caring for animals of all walks of life. He loved to play the guitar and was very artistic, creative, and poetic. He will be greatly missed by all of those fortunate enough to have known him.
His mother, Maria Oralia Huerta-Board; brothers, Joseph Board, Jr. and Richard Dale Board; sister, Natalie Board; uncle, Lynne Board; and brother-in-law, Raul Cuellar, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his loving children Rayne Alexis Board, April Elizabeth Board, James Joseph Board, Storm Alexander Board, Oden Nathaniel Board, and Taven Jerome Board; father, Joseph Board; and siblings Nora Cuellar, Mary Josephine Board, Glenda Board, Ruth Board, Roberta Board, Robert Board, and Christopher Board. Also surviving him are numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of friends.
Visiting hours are on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, beginning at 12:00 P.M. with all services concluding at 9:00 P.M. Wednesday night. In accordance with the wishes of Mr. Board, cremation will follow.
